Shibu Onsen and the Nine Public Baths
Step outside Yamaichiya and you will find yourself in the heart of a stone-paved hot spring town. Stroll through the streets in a yukata and geta sandals while enjoying the nostalgic atmosphere of a traditional Japanese onsen town. Guests staying at Yamaichiya can use a special key to visit all nine public bathhouses. An evening stroll under the glow of the lanterns is also highly recommended.

Jigokudani Monkey Park
One of Yamanouchi’s most famous attractions, where visitors can observe wild Japanese macaques at close range. In winter, the park is especially well known for the sight of monkeys bathing in hot springs surrounded by snow. Baby monkeys in spring and walks through the lush green scenery are also highlights.

Shiga Kogen
A scenic highland area surrounded by mountains, lakes, and wetlands. Enjoy hiking in the cool mountain air during summer, vibrant autumn foliage, and skiing or snowboarding in winter. It is also ideal for those who would like to admire the scenery on a leisurely drive.

SORA terrace
RYULOO Mountain Resort
Take the ropeway to the summit at an elevation of 1,770 metres. This popular scenic viewpoint offers panoramic views of the Five Mountains of Northern Shinshu and the Northern Japanese Alps. When weather conditions are favourable, you may also encounter a magnificent sea of clouds spreading out below.

Obuse
Obuse is affectionately known as the town of chestnuts, Hokusai, and flowers. Enjoy chestnut confectionery, Mont Blanc desserts, and local cafés while exploring attractions such as the Chestnut Path and the Hokusai Museum. The compact town centre is easy to explore on foot and is ideal for a half-day visit.

Zenkoji Temple
One of Nagano’s most celebrated historic temples. In addition to visiting the main hall, you can enjoy a stroll along Nakamise Street, which runs from the Niomon Gate to the Sanmon Gate. After your visit, explore the temple town and sample Shinshu soba noodles, oyaki dumplings, and local sweets.
